|Etisalat and Fanar Production unveil key episode of seventh season of Shaabiat Al Cartoon
Fanar Production, a leading production company specialized in animated content, and Etisalat, the main sponsor of the seventh season of Shaabiat Al Cartoon, today unveiled a special episode ahead of the holy month of Ramadan. The episode that deals with the hazardous effects of speeding on highways and city streets is scheduled to be aired during Ramadan.
The episode was unveiled during a press conference held in the Al Kifaf building in Dubai. The conference was attended by key officials at Fanar and Etisalat including Jaber Al Janahi, Etisalat’s Vice President - Corporate Communications; Haidar Mohammed, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Fanar Production; and Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE and FIA Vice-President for Sport.
Speeding and reckless driving have recently emerged as leading causes of death and physical disabilities in the UAE, necessitating a dedicated episode for the issue. Mohammad Ben Sulayem, who recently received an honorary degree from the University of Ulster in recognition of his services to sport, civic leadership and charity, has agreed to play a part in this episode to support the production team’s commitment to raising awareness on this issue. He will be seen in the episode talking about the positive aspects of speed when used in the right measure and place, while drawing attention to the disastrous consequences of misuse or abuse of speed.
“When I was asked to participate in Shaabiat Al Cartoon, I didn’t hesitate because I see it as a very effective way to send important messages to the youth in UAE. Every young life lost on our roads is one too many, and it’s important that we do all we can to reduce the number of fatalities in a big way. The message we want to send out is – Drive safely, don’t speed. If you want to race, do it in a properly controlled motorsport environment. The UAE has some of the best motor racing facilities in the world, and there are plenty of opportunities to train for racing, and to race competitively, especially at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi and Dubai Autodrome,” said Ben Sulayem.
Commenting on the special episode, Mr. Haider Mohammed, said: “Shaabiat Al Cartoon aims to address social issues and concerns in an innovative way. The past few months have seen several young people losing their lives to speed-related accidents. We wanted to bring attention to this important issue through the Shaabiat series. On behalf of our entire team, I would like to thank Mr. Ben Sulayem for taking the time out to help us raise awareness about this issue through our animation series. I would also like to thank Etisalat for their continuing sponsorship of the series. We see Etisalat as the top business institution in the UAE supporting the socially-relevant creative initiatives.”
Mr. Al Janahi said: “Over the years, Etisalat has always offered its support to community-orientated activities and we believe Shaabiat Al Cartoon has done a stellar job in enhancing public opinion and awareness vital social issues. Through our cultural sponsorships, we are keen to showcase UAE heritage while addressing important issues of national concern. We believe this will be a key episode within this year’s Shaabiat series since high-speed driving and its risks are relevant to all sections of the community. We believe such awareness initiatives will help in limiting this worrying trend and saving many precious lives.”
