H.E. Saeed Eisa Mohammed Al Khyeli, Director General of ZonesCorp, said: Through events and initiatives such as these, ZonesCorp is aiming to take a bigger role in improving the lives of the wider community. Diabetes, in particular, is a huge problem facing the nation, with the numbers of people suffering from the disease growing every day. ZonesCorp is committed to helping raise awareness of Diabetes and highlighting prevention methods.

The educational lectures were hosted by a group of specialist healthcare professionals such as Dr. Mohammed al-Khatib, a Consultant for Diabetes and Endocrinology at the HealthPlus Medical's Hospital. Dr Mohammed gave a lecture highlighting the importance of healthy eating and doing a minimum of 150mins of exercise per week as well as avoiding one of the most important risk factors which is smoking. He also stressed the importance of regular health checks to ensure early detection and treatment which will help to avoid complications. Dr Mohammed mentioned that a large number of the population has the disease but are unaware and therefore do not seek the proper treatment which results in greater problems later on. The rapid development of the medical sector in the country has allowed for better diagnostics and treatment for diabetes.

Hajar Al-Aqeel Foot Care specialist at the Diabetes and Endocrinology Center at HealthPlus Medical's Hospital said: The podiatry department is just one part of a multidisciplinary team that is working together to tackle the problem of diabetes by educating the community.
