Following the UAE-IAA’s successful bidding to host the international conference, prominent business leaders and internal audit experts from the UAE held a series of interactions and discussions with their international counterparts leaders and members regarding the conference.

These meetings, along with Dubai’s predominance as a preferred destination for international meetings (it was ranked among the world’s top 10 destinations for international meetings in 2016), generated a strong interest from global business leaders and decision-makers to participate in the premier event.

The journey to promote the international conference started with a delegation from Dubai attending the IIA’s International Conference in Sydney, where Matar Al Mansoori, UAE Deputy Chief of Mission to Australia, received the international conference flag on behalf of the UAE.

Ayesha Bin Lootah, Board of Governors Member at the UAE IAA Board of Governance, said: “With the UAE introducing value added tax into the system, the role of audit has become even more significant; sharing of international best practices around the world can happen in this platform”. “The IIA International Conference in Dubai is a premier event for the business community worldwide. We received a tremendous response for participation during our visit to the UK National Conference from decision-makers, experts and professionals, who are not only keen to be part of this prestigious conference, but also eager to explore Dubai, which has established itself as one of the world’s leading destinations for international conferences and is among the top tourism, commerce, and business destinations. The response has been equally encouraging from other countries including South Korea, Malaysia, Australia, Canada and Indonesia. We foresight a successful conference ahead.”

Abdulqader Obaid Ali, Chairman of UAE-IAA, visited the State Audit Institution in Kuwait and also the IIA Korea, where he addressed a seminar for the Chief Audit Executives. Samia Al Yousuf, General Manager, UAE IAA, participated in the IIA Malaysia National Conference; Adil Buhariwalla, attended the IIA National Conference in Canada besides attending the IAAIA conference in Casablanca along with Raza Abdulla from Emirates Airlines; Yasmine Abd El Aziz from UAE-IAA participated in the IIA Indonesia National Conference and Adnan Zaidi, Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers, visited the Annual Conference and Global Internal Audit Leadership Summit in Singapore.
