Spotlight on Family Travel as Lausanne Tourisme Returns to Arabian Travel Market 2018

Lausanne Tourisme announced its participation at the highly anticipated Arabian Travel Market 2018 that will take place in Dubai from April 22 - 25. The event will witness the promotion of some of the city’s best hotels, theme parks, museums, historical sites, lake experiences, and an abundance of nature, many of which remain unexplored, that fast tracks Lausanne to become Switzerland’s leading family holiday spot.

Unique in tourist attractions with combined leisure, entertainment and adventure expeditions, this destination has plenty to offer for this particular segment in travel.

Speaking about the participation, the Director of Lausanne Tourisme, Steeve Pasche commented: “Arabian Travel Market marks a successful journey and vision and gives its participants the right exposure as it is the largest of its kind in the region. The delegation is excited to share the infrastructure developments and new touristic opportunities witnessed by Lausanne with members of the global travel and tourism industry”.

Pasche confirms Lausanne Tourisme will focus on capturing a bigger share of the flourishing GCC market following studies that indicate an 11% increase in the number of tourists from the region in 2017. “More and more citizens from the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman are visiting Lausanne because of its familial environment, leisure attractions and academic opportunities. Our presence at ATM will help us connect and meet the right partners who will promote our city and facilities to the GCC market who seek family-friendly properties in beautiful locations that offer world-class hospitality,” he added.

Taking centre stage at Lausanne Tourisme’s pavilion will be the Aquatis Aquarium-Vivarium, a unique concept which stages live animals in a totally immersive and interactive scenography, designed using innovative digital technologies. Aquatis is positioned as Europe’s largest freshwater aquarium-vivarium.

Pasche said: “More than an aquarium, Aquatis is a 3,500 square metre platform which enables the discovery of more than 10,000 species of fish, and some of the most fascinating freshwater environments on our planet. It is both a recreational and environmental education centre for inquisitive minds across all ages”.

Lausanne Tourisme will also introduce its ‘travel card’, an all-encompassing amenity that is provided to guests upon check in at any hotel and can be used across all public transportation including trains, metro and buses.
