During the 12th edition of the Gulf Run last weekend, Audi customers and fans had the chance to gain a first-hand experience of Audi Sport. They were treated to hot laps in the Audi Sport flagship model – the Audi R8 – and as a special surprise in the all-new Audi RS 3 LMS. The latter is the newest addition to the “League of Performance” race car squad. The Middle East is the first region worldwide offering the Audi RS 3 LMS experience. Organized by Audi Kuwait, represented by Fouad Alghanim & Sons Automotive Company, close to 100 customers had the chance to check out the cars at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir.

 

Gulf Run started in 2005 as a weekend getaway for a group of friends passionate about automobile racing. The goal is to promote automobile racing and training in a professional environment; while educating drivers on proper racing techniques. Sixty cars from Kuwait roared into action at "The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East" – showcasing many top-of-the-line sports cars, among them the Audi Sport heavyweights.

 

Gulf Run CEO Ahmad Al Mudhaf expressed his delight in being back at BIC for another edition of the event. He said that Gulf Run at BIC is always an enjoyable and memorable occasion for all those who participate, and it succeeds in its aim of promoting safety on the roads, especially amongst youth who are big fans of motorsport.

 

Al Mudhaf thanked BIC Chief Executive Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa and the entire BIC team for their exceptional work as hosts each year. He said that it is because of BIC’s signature hospitality and smooth running of the event that they are always happy to come back to Bahrain and hold the meeting in Sakhir.

The annual Gulf Run activities started on December 16-17, 2016 with a Kart Race at Sirbb Circuit in Kuwait, followed by a car show at Murooj where Audi Kuwait presented the Audi RS Q3 and the Audi R8. The highlight of the 12th edition of the Gulf Run was the racing weekend in Bahrain.

 

The Audi RS 3 LMS is touring the region and can be seen at the Dubai Autodrome next before it travels to Oman and Qatar. The 330 hp race car made its Audi Sport customer racing debut at the Dubai 24-hour race with UK-based Cadspeed Racing who celebrated a class victory and a podium in the TCR Middle East.
