Sharjah Ladies Run to Award Prizes Worth More Than AED 100,000

Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) has announced that more than AED 100, 000 worth of prizes will be at stake for this year’s Sharjah Ladies Run, taking place on February 24.

 

First, second and third places in the 5km and 10km races, will receive cash prizes worth AED 28,000 from the club, one year memberships at health centres and AED 74,000 worth of gift vouchers from the event sponsors.

 

As the fourth edition of the Sharjah Ladies Run approaches, both SLC and the participants are finishing preparations for the event, to be held next to the Skyline University at Sharjah University City.

 

Registration is open until Sunday February 19, 2017 for all women and girls above 12 years of age who want to take part in the run taking place from 6pm to 9pm. They can register online at http://www.slc.ae. Girls aged under 15 years can register for the 5km race, and those aged 15 years and above for the 10km race.

 

“With just a few days to go, we are looking forward to another highly successful event, which, as well as being great fun, is also extremely competitive,” said Duaa Al Mahri, Head of Corporate Communication at SLC.

 

“In the 5km race, first place will be given AED 5,000, second will be awarded AED 3,000 and third place will receive AED 2,000. In the 10 km run, the winner will be given AED 7,000, second place will be awarded AED 6,000 and third will receive AED 5,000. The event sponsors will give AED 72,000 worth of prizes including health membership and gift vouchers. The Health Bank will give six healthcare memberships worth AED 60,000, while Cryo will offer packs of body care worth more than AED 9,000. Green Tea X50 will award six gift hampers worth AED 1,800. And Lorna Jane will also donate three gift vouchers worth AED 3,000 each to a raffle draw,” said Al Mahri.

 

“The Sharjah Ladies Run aims to encourage women and girls to lead a healthy lifestyle, and highlight the vital role of sports in achieving that,” Al Mahri added.

 

In accordance with its own strict safety criteria, SLC will station a team of female paramedics along the route to provide any medical attention where needed during and after the run.

 

The registration fee for the 5km run is AED 100 and AED 160 for the 10km run. For further information, applicants should call 065067701.

 

The SLC has charted a specialised training programme at ‘Fitness 180’, the club’s health centre, which includes carefully crafted fitness schedules to ensure participants’ preparedness to run in one of the most successful sporting events in the Emirate of Sharjah.

 

The SLC will also organise a collective warm-up routine for participants one hour before the race, under the supervision of Fitness 180’s expert female trainers and coaches.

 

The event sponsors include a number of public and private organisations, including Sharjah Environment Company Bee’ah (Gold Sponsor), Sharjah Sports Council (Silver Sponsor), and Skyline University College and Monviso Water (Support Sponsors).
