Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai To Participate in Earth Hour 2018

Earth Hour, organized by WWF, is a global grassroots movement uniting people to take action on climate change and protect the planet. Earth Hour started as a lights out event in Sydney, Australia in 2007 and since then, it has grown to engage millions of supporters in more than 170 countries and territories. As the movement grows, the one-hour lights out event continues to be the symbol of a broader commitment toward the planet.

Taking place from 8:30pm – 9:30pm local time, Shangri-La Hotel Dubai is excited to renew our commitment to sustainable practices and will participate in Earth Hour with a variety of activities, including:

  • No scheduled deliveries on 24 March to reduce CO2 emissions
  • Lights will be dimmed in all the public areas, while all lights will be switched off in areas that are not in use for the duration of the hour
  • Air conditioning will be reduced in occupied areas and turned off in unoccupied areas
  • An evening under the stars celebrating Earth Hour will be held on the terrace of the hotel’s 42nd floor with Earth inspired cocktails and canapes.

We welcome all guests and residents to join us in celebrating our planet!
