Saudi Total achieved a new milestone with ISO 14001-2004

Once again Saudi Total realized another achievement this year, where the company achieved the Environmental Management System certificate ISO 14001 for its plant in King Abdullah Economic City. The plant has been awarded this certificate on the basis of recommendations of the ISO International Commission in less than two years of startup.

ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted standard that outlines how to put an effective environmental management system in factories, and it provides an internationally recognized assurance that the factory meets the requirements for environmental management systems in its facilities at the highest degree of attention, to be able to obtain the environmental payoff for its products, services and operations.

The ISO 14001 certificate, as well, ensures the ability of the plant to implement environmental legal regulatory requirements that apply to the factory (both activities and services), and identifies the required environmental standards to comply with.

Commenting on this achievement, Nizar Raydan, Managing Director of Saudi Total, said:" Saudi Total is proud to achieve the highest levels of application of environmental protection standards in its industrial processes. obtaining ISO 14001 certificate is a confirmation of our commitment to global standards to reach the desired goals. We have adopted and implemented a training and awareness program for our staff in the plant about the requirements of the environmental management system in order to prepare the plant for the required changes to get this certificate, as well as to develop our relationship with the society where we operate in additional to other essential factors."
