Samsung SeeColors App: Bringing Colors to Life

Falling under its efforts to enrich the lifestyle of its consumers, Samsung Electronics announced the launch of its all new SeeColors app, a cutting-edge technology compatible with QLED TVs to offer viewers the best possible entertainment and viewing experience. SeeColors for QLED TV helps people with Color Vision Deficiency (CVD) diagnose their personal visual deficiencies when using the app which will be available for download as of November 27th.

Nearly 300 million people suffer from Color Vision Deficiency (CVD) globally, with conditions ranging from mild to moderate to severe, or ultimately color blindness. Consequently, Samsung’s SeeColors adjusts the colors on display based on the individual’s diagnosis results, thus allowing the viewers to fully utilize their billions of optical receptors and see 100% color volume.

Mr. Ismail Yoon, Managing Director Samsung Electronics KSA said: “We at Samsung are committed to making people’s everyday lives smarter and more convenient through technology and innovation. The launch of SeeColors for QLED TV embodies this mission by providing users with a way to address one of the world’s biggest optical challenges through the latest technologies and optimal visual displays.”

SeeColors is the outcome of a fruitful partnership with Colorlite®, a Hungarian company that applies certified technology based on 20 years of scientific research to help people address CVD. The SeeColors app marks the first time Colorlite® is being used on TVs and smartphone devices.

The app is available for download from the Smart TV App store. Users can also download the app to conduct the diagnosis through Google Play and the Galaxy App Store for Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones, i.e. S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+, S7, S7 edge and S8 devices. Once users connect their Galaxy smartphone to their QLED TV, the TV will automatically adjust the color setting based on the user’s diagnosis.

It is estimated that 8% of men and up to 1% of women suffer from CVD globally*, based on a representative survey conducted in Europe and North America. However, the majority of people suffering from CVD are unaware of their condition and its impact on their quality of life.
