Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. participated in the HVACR Expo that took place IN Jeddah between the 16th and 18th of January 2017. During the Expo Samsung’s Saher Hilal, Head of Department at Samsung, gave a lecture to increase awareness about the all-new 360 Cassette that was invented to improve the conventional air conditioner aiming to create new technologies and bring more comfort to customers.

 

Samsung utilized the fundamentals of wind-powered turbines in its all-new air conditioners. But, to adopt the wind powered turbine’s airflow control principle and make full use of this sub airflow, a more active and efficient method to control the flows was needed. Samsung overcame these technological limitations with a negative pressure method using a booster fan. In order to change the direction of the airflow, a pressure difference has to be built up around the airflow. The existing method of adding wind required using a sub airflow that equals over 100% of the main airflow, but with the Booster Fan, airflow direction has been controlled with just 5% of the main airflow.

 

During the HVACR Expo, Saher Hilal stated that: “The purpose of our invention is to direct the air conditioners’ wind to the ceiling since people get annoyed from cool air hitting them directly. In conventional air conditioners, if blades were set towards the ceiling, the outlet closes. Moreover, in spaces that need even airflow, the conventional 4-way cassette can’t cool all the surrounding spaces. Some people would be cold, and others hot, due to the uneven airflow.”

The 360 Cassette is characterized by several key features that differentiate it from other products. It is Cold Draft Free, fulfilling consumers’ needs who want cool and comfortable air flows that give the simulation of natural wind. Instead of using blades, the 360 Cassette uses a Booster Fan to control airflow creating evenly cool wind without any loss in air volume.

 

Another feature is Perfectly Even Cooling, which was provided by a circular shaped air outlet that distributes wind in 360° and provide cooling and heating evenly throughout the space. A conventional 4-way Cassettes operating on even flow have an air volume loss of 25%, whereas the bladeless 360 Cassette has virtually 0% loss even at maximum.

 

The beautiful circular exposed panel, and the four-sided modern embedded panel that has two different designs enables the 360 Cassette to easily blend with the décor of a variety of modern spaces, including offices, meeting rooms, restaurants, and even high-end villas.
