Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah Donates AED 77,000 to the TBHF ‘Girl Child Fund’

The Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah, a subsidiary of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators, has donated more than AED 77,000 to The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF)’s Girl Child Fund, which Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of the Big Heart Foundation (TBHF), launched earlier this year to advocate for the rights of young girls worldwide.

This donation is one of the many initiatives that Sajaya has rolled out this year to further the objectives of the UAE’s ‘2017 Year of Giving’. Their ‘100 Hours of Giving’ summer programme in August brought together 800 young members of Sajaya who helped redevelop 72 homes for underprivileged families in Sharjah City, Kalba and Khorfakkan communities. The subscription fee of enrolling into the programme, which is over AED 77,000, has been donated to the Fund.

Highlighting the importance of philanthropy and community service, Sheikha Aisha Khalid Al Qasimi, Director of Sajaya, said: “Our girls established a wonderful example of selfless giving through their active involvement in the ‘100 Hours of Giving’ campaign, emphasising the need for the younger generations to lead humanitarian action for underprivileged segments of society. They contributed in a variety of ways to redevelop dozens of houses in Sharjah, and today, they have extended the subscription fees of the initiative to another big cause – the cause of empowering girls by ensuring they enjoy their basic human rights. We hope this heartfelt gesture will go a long way in assisting TBHF with their relief and aid operations in the near future.”

The donation to TBHF’s Girl Child Fund will contribute to implementing an array of development projects that target girls living in unstable regions around the world, and ensure their basic needs are met, including their fundamental rights to healthcare, education, safety and security.

Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah is dedicated to developing the talents of girls in the age group of 13-18 years in all creative spheres. Established in 2004 under the umbrella of Sharjah Children’s Centres, Sajaya became an independent entity in 2012 following an administrative decision by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and Chairperson of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation.
