The Royal Commission at Yanbu and Siemens signed a contract to supply top-notch energy management solutions for a new urban development project located east of Tama in Community-2. The development is projected to attract at least 50,000 new inhabitants and comprises of housing developments, schools, hospitals as well as a university. Siemens will design and construct a new 11K substation, and upgrade an existing 10J substation. The contract includes eight transformers as well as high and medium voltage switchgears. The Siemens energy management system is designed to integrate advanced digital capabilities with an automation platform that enables the remote monitoring of the switchgears, meters, transformers and protection relays. 

 

Dr. Alaa Nassif, Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Commission at Yanbu, signed the contract at a recent ceremony and said, “This project is part of the construction of a huge residential area that will address the growing demand for housing, and coincides with the mega projects that are driving expansion in Yanbu. The contract will contribute towards the achievement of the Kingdom’s National Transformation Program 2020, and the Royal Commission’s ambitious programs to achieve the goals of Vision 2030. The construction of a main substation will be executed by Siemens, a pioneer in its field, and provide the foundation for the Royal Commission to develop a second residential area that will attract investment.”

 

Arja Talakar, CEO of Siemens Saudi Arabia, expressed his gratitude for the trust of the Royal Commission in choosing Siemens for implementing such a technologically advanced project and realizing the Vision 2030. “This is a great milestone and we are honored to continue our strong partnership with the Royal Commission”, he said.
