Prize Giving Rounds Off Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge Powered by Nissan

The 28th Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge powered by Nissan came to a climax with a gala dinner and prize giving ceremony at Yas Marina Circuit.

 

Mohammed Ben Sulayem, president of the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE and Emirates Motorsport Federation, was joined by H.R.H.Prince Khaled bin Sultan Al Faisal Al Saud, President of the Motor Federation of Saudi Arabia, as he presented trophies to the winners in all categories last night. They were also accompanied by Al Tareq Al Ameri, CEO of Yas Marina Circuit.

 

The winners included Czech driver Martin Prokop and co-driver David Pabiska who landed the cars title for the first time, and new bikes champion Pablo Quintanilla from Chile

 

Saudi Arabia’s Ahmed Al Shegawi and French co-driver Laurent Lichtleuchter won the T2 production cars category in a Nissan Patrol.

 

Spain’s Jose-Luis Pena Campo and Rafel Tornabell captured the buggies title while Dutchman Kees Koolen was crowned quads champion.

 

Taking place under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in Al Dafrah Region, the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge forms the third round of the 2018 FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies for cars and buggies and the opening round of this year’s FIM Cross Country Rallies World Championship for bikes and quads.

 

The Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge Powered by Nissan is supported by Al Dafrah Region Municipality, Abu Dhabi Municipality, the UAE Army, Abu Dhabi Police, Nissan Middle East, ADNOC, Abu Dhabi Aviation, Al-Ain Water, National Ambulance Service, Tadweer, Yas Marina Circuit and the Qasr Al-Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara.
