Nso Symphony Orchestra to Present ‘a Night at the Symphony’ Opening Its Season of Friday Night Galas

The NSO Symphony Orchestra is launching its new season of ‘Friday Night Galas’ with A Night at the Symphony, on Friday 17 November at the Emirates Palace Auditorium in Abu Dhabi.

The gala will feature some of the most inspiring orchestral music ever written: Mendelssohn’s mighty Hebrides Overture, Brahms’s virtuosic Violin Concerto in D and one of the most popular orchestral classics, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5.

NSO will welcome Guest Conductor Maestro Giuseppe Lanzetta of Italy's Symphony Toscana Classica, and international violinist Daria Nechaevan in a collaborative NSO goodwill concert.

The evening gala is at 7.30pm; younger adults may like to attend the matinee at 4.30pm, which is also an 'open rehearsal', when the conductor and musicians will take time during their rehearsal to explain the different parts of the orchestra and the pieces they are playing.

NSO Founder & Executive Director, Mrs Janet Hassouneh, said: “The NSO Symphony Orchestra is looking forward to delighting its audiences with an exciting programme to open the new season and, in a first for the orchestra, is especially pleased to welcome Maestro Lanzetta and Madam Nechaevan, who will bring their own interpretations to these favourite orchestral classics.

“We are delighted to welcome TwoFour54 as our newest Presenting Sponsor, which joins our long-standing sponsors, such as Platinum Sponsor Gulf Capital, with us for the third year running, as has Abu Dhabi Classic FM and the Emirates Palace Hotel.”

NSO continues its ‘Friday Night Galas’ on 9 February at the Emirates Palace Auditorium for A Night at the Opera, which will feature one of the world’s most popular operas, Puccini’s dramatic thriller Tosca, a fully staged production conducted by Maestro Gianluca Marcianó, with period costumes and a principal cast flown all the way from Los Angeles and New York.

A Night at the Movies closes the season on Friday 27 April 2018 at the Emirates Palace Auditorium in Abu Dhabi. The NSO Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, conducted by NSO Music Director Andrew Berryman, will perform everyone’s favourite film music, from the classics to contemporary, including the main title from Pirates of the Caribbean, Barber’s Adagio for Strings from Platoon, Mussorgsky's Night on Bare Mountain from Disney's Fantasia, Offenbach's Can-Can from Moulin Rouge, an excerpt from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake from Black Swan, Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, Star Wars, and a few surprises!

In April 2016, NSO accompanied Andrea Bocelli when he sang for some 10,000 people at du Arena, and NSO also enthralled younger audiences at du Forum when performing live, with Elsa and friends, for the screening of Disney’s animated film, Frozen.

NSO promises to continue to delight audiences with its ‘Friday Night Gala’ season, which is sponsored by TwoFour54 Media & Entertainment Hub as Presenting Sponsor, in addition to Platinum Sponsors Gulf Capital, Abu Dhabi Classic FM, and Emirates Palace Hotel.

As NSO's season is launched, concertgoers will be able to experience the excitement of live and passionate performances with big savings! When purchasing a three-concert ticket package, in the same section, they will receive a group discount: Platinum AED1,100, Gold AED825, Silver AED600, Balcony AED425 – all available online now at: Ticketmaster
