Nibras, SABSA sign agreement to fight drugs

The National Project on Prevention of Drugs (Nibras) and the Saudi Arabian Boy Scouts Association (SABSA) on Thursday signed a cooperation agreement to fight drugs in the Saudi capital.
“Nibras and SABSA signed the agreement to help in the national campaign against drugs,” said Abdul-Elah bin Mohammed Al-Shareef, Nibras assistant director general.
A team from SABSA met with counterparts at Nibras to discuss the activation of their specific roles in the implementation of the national project to prevent drugs.
Both sides agreed on their participation in the design, implementation and application of awareness and prevention programs aimed at stopping drug proliferation in the Kingdom.
Al-Shareef said that under the agreement, Nibras and SABSA will join forces to implement projects and programs to warn citizens, especially youths, on the bad effects of drugs to health and society.
They also agreed that the projects and programs to be implemented are legal and in accordance with existing local laws in the Kingdom. Nibras and SABSA also agreed to form a joint working group that would serve as a link between them in the implementation of the agreement.
He said that the agreement is one of the preventive actions that had been taken to contain, if not altogether stop, the proliferation of drugs in the Kingdom.
He added that the agreement will focus on preventive action, setting up meetings and seminars, and establishment of specialized training courses in the field of drug prevention.
“Under the agreement, childhood and values courses will also be established in the different regions of the Kingdom,” said Abdullah Al-Fahad, SABSA deputy chairman.
He added that scientific seminars, as well as visits to specialized centers in the field of drug prevention, will also be held.
