Labor claims in Saudi Arabia drop 23% to 35,200 in Q1 2024

The claims filed before the labor courts and circuits in Saudi Arabia decreased by about 23% to 35,200 in the first quarter of 2024, compared to the fourth quarter of 2023, Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported, citing a judicial source.

 

 

 

The labor cases varied between wage, allowance, compensation, and bonuse claims, constituting nearly 69% of the total. Other claims were related to requesting service certificates, along with disputes regarding employers imposing disciplinary penalties on employees or related to requesting exemptions from them, among others.

 

 

 

Courts and circuits in Riyadh accounted for 32.6% of the total labor cases with 11,435, followed by the Makkah (8,477), then the Eastern Province (5,165), Aseer (2,058), and Madinah (2,050), and Qassim (1,651).

 

 

 

In Hail, labor circuits received 949 cases, Jazan 854 cases, followed by Najran (752), Tabuk (682), Al-Jouf (496). The courts in the Northern Borders region recorded 281 cases. Meanwhile, Al-Baha region had the lowest number of labor cases at 213.
