Il Baretto Riyadh launches new seasonal menu crafted by chef Alex Simone

The new menu additions encapsulate the spirit of seasonal eating – truly showcasing Il Baretto’s Italian-inspired dining

Paying homage to the changing seasons of Italy and the Mediterranean – and the fresh, seasonal ingredients that change alongside them – Il Baretto Riyadh has launched its enticing new seasonal menu.

Available from September, the seasonal creations are one of three annual changes to the menu, which sees a handful of specially curated and thought-out additions added by chef Alex Simone. All new additions are inspired by fresh, seasonal produce, with particular attention put on sustainable sourcing – a personal passion of chef Simone’s.

The new items encapsulate the spirit of Il Baretto, one of Riyadh’s most stylish eateries inspired by the many regions of Italy, from the meat-focused, hearty dishes of the north and heartlands to the fresh, lighter fare of the coast. Highlighting the humble, quintessentially Italian vegetable, the new menu includes an Endivia salad (endive and pears with gorgonzola dressing and whole nuts) and fragrant Risotto All’Aragosta (lobster and fennel risotto) – showcasing the bounty of the ocean this season.

With pasta dishes a much-loved Il Baretto signature, the new menu includes three seasonal variations. Guests can enjoy Mezzi Paccheri con Cozze e Bottarga (large tube pasta with mussels, broccoli, and grey raw mullet), Cappelletti ai Porcini (ravioli with porcini mushrooms, Taleggio, butter and sage) and Ravioli di Zucca (butternut squash ravioli in butter sage and amaretto di Saronno). Other primi dishes include the Nerano pizza – generously topped with basil, grilled courgettes, mozzarella and provolone cheese.

Il Baretto’s use of the fiery Josper Grill is renowned across the city, and the new menu includes the addition of Cotoletta di Vitello (yoghurt marinated veal chop in a truffle crust) and flaky Salmon Fillet with fennel, semi-dried tomatoes, orange and olives. Complementing side dishes include the Zucchine Alla Scapece (pan-friend courgettes with mint and sweet and sour dressing) and indulgent Patate Gratinate – gratin potatoes in a creamy parmesan and truffle sauce.

Seasonal menu additions can be washed down with Il Baretto’s signature curated Zero Bar menu – offering a gastronomical grade free from alcohol, sugars and artificial flavours but packed with creativity.

The new menu is available from September in the chic KAFD eatery – which opened in the Kingdom in 2021 and originally hails from London.
