HEYA Arabian Fashion Exhibition Concludes With Promise to Return in Winter

After five days of fashion shows, workshops and discussions on beauty and health, Qatar’s trendiest showcase of traditional Arabic attire has come to a close, with a promise to return in October 2016 with the upcoming autumn/winter collection.

In its 9th edition, Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition attracted thousands of visitors looking to refresh their Ramadan look with the latest collection of abayas, kaftans, jalabiyyas and related accessories.

The event included competitions that involved both visitors and participating outlets, as well as the entertaining Wanasa Night, which offered makeovers to visitors.

This edition of Heya witnessed a healthy participation of designers from across the GCC. Over a third (37%) of the participants were Qatari designers, while 20%, 17% and 16% hailed from Bahrain, the UAE and Saudi Arabia respectively. Nine percent of the designers were Kuwaiti, while others from outside the region represented Turkey and India.

Aisha Al Tayeeb the leading designer for the famous Qatari label - Al Motahajiba said: “Our family has been designing Arabian garments for women for 30 years. We are regular participants at the Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition and this year we presented a young, trendy look through our Ramadan collection. The inspiration was drawn from nature and our designs were based on flowers, blossoms and butterflies. We’ve had a lot of interested customers of varying ages who wanted to make their Ramadan purchase. We are also very pleased with the overall arrangement and organization of this exhibition.”

Customers too expressed their satisfaction at the wide range of choice collections and accessories presented and the side events held every day. “I am a regular visitor to Heya exhibitions every year. There were several different kinds of styles to choose from, at the different boutiques and I was able to find the abayas and evening gowns of my choice. I’ve picked up some clothes for Ramadan for me as well as for some of my family members,” said a satisfied customer.
