EY appoints Wasim Khan to lead MENA Advisory business

EY has announced the appointment of Wasim Khan as Advisory Services Leader across the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region, effective 01 July 2018.

Wasim will lead a team of more than 700 professionals across the region, who provide high-quality services to organizations in a number of sectors. These include government, financial services, energy, real estate, hospitality and construction, consumer products, telecommunications and technology.

Abdulaziz Al Sowailim, MENA Chairman and CEO, EY, says:

“We are seeing businesses shift to adjust their strategies in response to fundamental changes in industries and business models. The Transformative Age is changing how we live, work and play – from the gig economy, artificial intelligence, and smart cities to self-driving vehicles, clean energy sources and more. Synergies and collaborations are becoming a vital element of the way we operate.

“Wasim has played a key part in shaping how our advisory business looks like today, and we are delighted to welcome him as the new MENA Advisory Services Leader. For over 20 years, he has led some of our largest accounts in the public and private sector. Under his leadership, I am confident that we will continue to drive growth and innovation across our Advisory business.”

Wasim has enjoyed a long and successful career with EY since joining the organization as an IT consultant in 1998. He previously held the position of MENA Telecommunications Sector Leader, working with the region’s largest telecom providers and regulators. Wasim assumed the position of MENA Advisory COO in 2013, and most recently served as Deputy Advisory Leader.

Wasim Khan, MENA Advisory Leader elect, says:

“The consulting industry continues to be disrupted as regional governments and organizations operate in the Transformative Age. Companies are ignoring boundaries that once distinguished them from other industries, and we are seeing traditional players collaborating with new participants from different industries to co-create value. We too are adapting the way we consult. We fully understand the value of converging with technology providers, cybersecurity technology, design agencies, data analytics experts and digital hubs.

He adds: “I am thrilled to lead the Advisory business in a region which continues to be recognized as one of the most innovative and dynamic in the world. EY will continue to invest in next-gen capabilities and solutions across a number of industries with a sharp lens on strengthening our alliances, innovative business models, digital, analytics and cyber agenda.”

Wasim succeeds Gerard Gallagher, who now leads the AIM (Africa, India, Middle East) Advisory business.
