Effat University’s three engineering programs achieve recognition by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)

Effat University’s three academic engineering programs have achieved official recognition by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). The three programs are Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), Computer Science (CS), and Information Systems (IS).

The programs have been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) and the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC), the global accreditor of engineering programs of ABET.

“ABET accreditation assures our programs meet the standards to produce female graduates ready to enter critical technical fields that are leading the way in innovation and emerging technologies, and anticipating the welfare and safety needs of the public, said Dr. Haifa Reda Jamal Allail President of Effat University.

“Our engineering programs are of the highest caliber and this prestigious accreditation affirms Effat University’s globally recognized position as a world class academic institution.”

Sought worldwide, ABET’s voluntary peer-review process is highly respected because it adds critical value to academic programs in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines, where quality, precision and safety are of the utmost importance.

Developed by technical professionals from ABET’s member societies, ABET criteria focus on what students experience and learn. ABET accreditation reviews look at program curricula, faculty, facilities and institutional support and are conducted by teams of highly skilled professionals from industry, academia and government, with expertise in the ABET disciplines.

ABET is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). It currently accredits 3709 programs at over 750 colleges and universities in 30 countries.

Effat is committed to empowering women to play a leading role in the kingdom’s social and economic development and offers ambitious and aspirational female students some of the most innovative, diverse and advanced educational graduate and undergraduate programs conducive to lifelong learning.

Including degrees that are taught only at Effat University, the curriculum consists of 17 educational graduate and undergraduate programs within four colleges: Effat College of Science and Humanities, Effat College of Engineering, Effat College of Business, and Effat College of Architecture and Design.

In addition, the university has four state-of-the-art research centers: Smart Building Research Center, Virtual Reality Research Center, E-Arabization Research Center, Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship Research Center.

The university continues to diversify and develop new programs such as the newly introduced Masters in Energy Engineering degree that is the first of its kind in the Kingdom.

Committed to supporting Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program 2020, the university is playing an active role by providing a new generation of female graduates with specialized courses designed to fulfill the changing needs of Saudi Arabia’s job market and help the social and economic development of the country.
