The Ministry of Education will now issue licenses and be responsible for all matters related to operating kindergartens and nurseries. An approval to this effect was granted by the Council of Ministers on Monday.

The weekly session of the Cabinet, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman at Al-Yamama Palace here, took this decision after considering a report presented by the Ministry of Civil Service, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Adel Al-Turaifi, minister of culture and information, said that the follow-up and supervision of kindergartens will be carried out in line with the rules and regulations drafted by the ministry. This will also be applicable to nurseries for infants.

According to the new procedures, all government and private agencies operating kindergartens and nurseries without prior approval of the ministry should approach the ministry to rectify their status.

However, the Ministry of Social Affairs will continue issuing licenses for child care centers and carry out their supervision.

The Cabinet also approved a general authority for the custodianship of the wealth of minors. The authority will take care of the wealth of people who died without any legal heirs or any will. Their property will be given to orphanages.

At the outset of the session, the Cabinet appreciated the speech of King Salman while receiving the guests who came to attend the Janadriyah Festival. The Cabinet also highlighted the King’s emphasis that the Islamic religion is a religion of moderation, justice and mercy, and what is seen today of terrorism from those who claim to be Muslims has nothing to do with Islam.

The Cabinet also appreciated the role of the United Kingdom, and other countries and agencies that organized the Fourth Syria Donors’ Conference in London, announcing the Kingdom’s provision of additional $100 million to $100 million pledged in Kuwait conference in addition to $90 million from the previous obligations. The Kingdom’s total assistance to the Syrian people exceeds $780 million.
