Dubai Culture Partners with Meraas to Enrich the SIKKA Art Fair 2018 Programme with ‘Year of Zayed’ Activation

Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate’s dedicated entity for culture, arts and heritage, partnered with Meraas to bring a ‘Year of Zayed’ activation to SIKKA Art Fair 2018, which takes under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of Dubai Culture, and running from 17th to 26th March at Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood.

As part of the partnership, Meraas supported SIKKA Art Fair at the newly opened ‘Al Seef’ next door to Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, via a creative activation that will feature activities including live painting on free standing cubes based on ‘Year Of Zayed 2018’ values, and live music performed in an acoustic style. Meraas will provided a bus service to shuttle people back and forth from Al Seef to SIKKA Art Fair.

Abdulla Al Hammadi, Acting Director of Projects and Events at Dubai Culture, commented: “In line with our mission to establish Dubai as a global, creative and sustainable city for culture, heritage, arts and literature, SIKKA Art Fair aims to spread the joy of art throughout the community by celebrating the region’s home-grown talents via a range of exciting exhibitions, art installations, workshops, film, music and performing arts. Our partnership with Meraas will support this endeavour by enhancing the fair’s rich programme with an engaging activation that will uphold the values of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan while also encouraging active participation among the public. Meraas will also help us to provide people with a convenient bus shuttle service that will transport them directly to the fair, which we expect to boost visitor numbers.”

SIKKA Art Fair complements the city-wide activation of cultural events that will take place during the fifth edition of Dubai Art Season, which will run throughout March and April 2018 and feature events such as the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, Art Dubai, DIFC Art Nights and the Middle East Film & Comic Con, among an array of other creative initiatives in the Emirate.

Dubai Culture aims to enhance Dubai’s cultural scene and draw attention to the Emirate’s rich heritage with a variety of initiatives that take place throughout the year. The Authority’s mandate is to build bridges of constructive dialogue between different civilisations and cultures through enriching initiatives that benefit the Emirate’s citizens, residents and visitors.
