Dubai Culture participates in the Sharjah International Book Fair

Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate’s dedicated entity for culture, arts and heritage, will participate in the upcoming 36th Sharjah International Book Fair at Expo Center Sharjah under this year’s ‘A World Inside My Book’ theme, which captures the many realms and experiences that readers can enjoy when reading books. Dubai Culture’s participation is part of its ongoing efforts to establish a culture of reading across the UAE and spread knowledge throughout all segments of the community.

From 1st to 11th November, Dubai Culture will be taking part in the fair, which is one of the most important cultural and literary events in the country and attracts the world's most famous artists and writers.

Saeed Al Nabouda, Acting Director General at Dubai Culture, commented: "Dubai Culture is proud to again participate in this cultural event, which is rapidly gaining local and regional fame, and furthers our aim to promote reading and knowledge across the community. Sharjah International Book Fair provides us with an ideal platform to introduce our initiatives for highlighting our culture and preserving our rich heritage, which we achieve by launching various cultural programmes that resonate with all members of the community, including English and Arabic readers, and young and old alike.”

Dubai Culture will showcase a collection of valuable books at stand number P2 located in Hall 3, including publications that are available at Dubai Public Library, a wide range of Braille books, and several books that have been issued by the Authority.

To attract the largest possible number of visitors, and to ensure that the public is able to interact with its platform and learn about its initiatives for serving the UAE’s growing cultural landscape, the Authority has invited a number of writers, scholar and authors to participate in the various cultural events that will be organised throughout the event. The Authority will launch a diverse programme targeting different groups of the community, with a morning period for school students and the evening dedicated to the public.

The Authority’s programme will also host cultural figures from outside the country and include discussion sessions, seminars, meetings and book signings. A diverse range of children's activities will start with an interactive storytelling session and continue with workshops and book signings with authors. Young authors will have the opportunity to present and discuss their new works and editions, and to sign them for their visitors.
