Dubai Culture organises ‘Zayed Used Books Fair’

Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate’s dedicated entity for culture, arts and heritage, represented by Dubai Public Library, announced the start of ‘Zayed Used Books Fair’ at Etihad Mall. The exhibition will be held over a period of five days, starting on Monday 4th June, which will fall on 19th Ramadan, and continuing until 9th June 2018.

The exhibition is in collaboration with Al Noor Charity association, and is part of a series of events organised by the Authority in conjunction with ‘Zayed Humanitarian Day’, the late Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s passing. The exhibition, in participation with Noor Dubai Initiative, will welcome all visitors from 9:00pm to 12:00 am.

Dr Hissa bin Masood, Director of the Dubai Public Library, commented: “The event will be part of Dubai Public Library's contribution to bringing various segments of the UAE’s society together in celebration of ‘Zayed Humanitarian Day’, which is an important national occasion that commemorates the late Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Additionally, the event will play an important role in encouraging people to read by providing them with a variety of books, covering different fields and subjects, at discounted prices.”

The initiative will provide an opportunity for Dubai Culture to participate in a national humanitarian and charitable event that will help in delivering financial support to local charities in order for them to fulfil their missions. Moreover, the exhibition will align with the objectives of Dubai Public Library and its keenness to establish events that promote the culture of reading in the community, and will aim to make reading a common practice for everyone, an initiative that is in line with the UAE Reading Strategy.

The Dubai Public Library network includes eight libraries for adults and another seven for children, as well as multi-purpose halls and classrooms. All Dubai Public Library branches are connected via computer systems and have links with other modern libraries, providing access to vast sources of information and knowledge on an immense diversity of topics in both Arabic and English.
