Dubai Culture Celebrates UAE Flag Day

Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate’s dedicated entity for culture, arts and heritage, has celebrated UAE Flag Day in response to the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The occasion is a national initiative that commemorates the momentous day when His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan was appointed as President of the nation.

Dedicated events were held at all of the Authority’s heritage and archaeological sites, as well as its institutional offices, with the Department of Cultural and Heritage Programmes and Dubai Heritage Development Centres distributing gifts and souvenirs to mark the occasion. The celebration was an expression of loyalty and devotion to the nation and its leadership, and faithfulness to the values of the union established by the Founding Fathers.

Saeed Al Nabouda, Acting Director General of Dubai Culture, said: "We are honoured to celebrate this precious occasion and join all institutions, companies, citizens and residents on UAE Flag Day, which carries a lot of national meanings and values. The event contributed to instilling unity and peace among the people of the UAE, strengthening their sense of belonging to the homeland, and consolidating cohesion across the nation.”

In addition, the Authority held another celebration at Al Kuwait School for Basic Education in the presence of officials and directors from Dubai Culture, members of the Dubai Education Zone and Community Development Authority, and representatives from all Dubai Heritage Development Centres.

The event featured a number of activities from Dubai Heritage Development Centres, such as ‘Youla Raf Al-Alam’, ‘We Love Your Colours’, ‘Long Live the Flag’ and other workshops related to the Flag Day, as well as a national workshop and falconers.

Al Nabouda added: "We are pleased to extend our congratulations to the rulers and people of the UAE. We would like to assure everyone that all of us at Dubai Culture will remain loyal to the colours of our national flag, which remain dear to us throughout the year and across all our locations. All of our activities will be dedicated to promoting a sense of pride and belonging to the nation in our hearts, and specifically among young people from the new generation."

Dubai Culture aims to enhance Dubai’s cultural scene and draw attention to the Emirate’s rich heritage with a variety of initiatives that take place throughout the year. The Authority’s mandate is to build bridges of constructive dialogue between different civilisations and cultures through enriching initiatives that benefit the Emirate’s citizens, residents and visitors.
