Internationally acclaimed fashion designer and artist, Johny Dar joins forces with 100 celebrities for ‘Jeans for Refugees’ project raising money for the International Rescue Committee (IRC). From Hollywood heavy hitters Ryan Gosling and Sharon Stone to Britain’s very own Sir Elton John and Victoria Beckham, the 100 celebrities have each donated a pair of their jeans which are being painted and given various artistic treatments by Dar. 

 

The jeans are exclusively available to bid and buy on the world’s fastest growing online auction house, Catawiki (www.catawiki.com/jeansforrefugees).

 

WHO: The next ‘Jeans for Refugees’ lots of signed jeans are donated by Harry Potter star, Daniel Radcliffe and former One Direction bandmate Harry Styles. Harry’s skinny black denims are signed with "All the love, Harry”, and already went viral on twitter unpainted. They now feature intricate linework in metallic grey 3D paint that tells “Harry’s story ‘unplugged,” Dar says, adding “they are cool jeans, full of energy - ready to rock your world!’

 

This current crop of celebrities now join the likes of Kate Moss, Emma Watson, Alicia Vikander, Karlie Kloss, Eva Longoria, Melanie C, Elle Macpherson, Claudia Schiffer, Lily Allen and many more in having their denim threads up for grabs in aid of the IRC. More A-lister pairs of jeans will be released over the summer along with a number of other events and activities where the public can see the amazing art pieces created by Johny Dar up close and personal. Currently, Sharon Stone’s jeans are the most popular with a current bid of £4,179.

 

WHY: Johny Dar is extremely passionate about the refugee crisis. The concept behind Jeans for Refugees is to spread a message through art, to create positive change and empower people to collaborate for a common goal. The project was created from the principle that every life deserves a chance, and everyone can help to create change. The 100 'Jeans for Refugees' are a collection of artistic expressions affirming that each human being has a unique and equal value, and a right to live in stability, safety and peace. The intention is to raise millions for the International Rescue Committee and their initiatives supporting refugees worldwide.

 

WHEN: These two desirable denims were released for auction on World Humanitarian Day, which was designated by the UN General Assembly seven years ago to coincide with the anniversary of the 2003 bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad.
