Armed Forces exhibit evokes warm interest

A weeklong Armed Forces Exhibition for Diversity of Requirements and Capabilities (AFED 2018) titled «Our Industry.. Our Strength» that concluded on Saturday at Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center has evoked warm response from visitors.



The exhibition has facilitated 40 agreements with global and international companies in terms of military equipment worth tens of billions of riyals, according to organizers.


More than 58,000 industrial products were displayed during the exhibition, which was visited 120,000 people.



Bangladesh Chief of Army Staff Gen. Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq visited the exhibition on the concluding day. He was prominent among army officials from Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTS) who visited the exhibition to get updated on the latest technology in military hardware.



The Bangladesh general was received by high-ranking Saudi army officials who accompanied him during the visit and explained about Saudi military equipment.



Gen. Huq expressed hope that the military cooperation between the two countries will be enhanced in future through the experience from the exhibition, according to Bangladeshi officials in Riyadh.



Gen. Huq was accompanied by Defense Attaché Brig. Gen. Shah Alam Chowdhury throughout the visit.



Meanwhile, Assistant Minister of Defense Muhammad Bin Abdullah Al-Ayesh conferred the King Abdul Aziz Medal of Excellence Gen. Huq when he visited the minister›s office in Riyadh on Sunday.



Chief of General Staff Gen. Fayadh Bin Hamid Al-Ruwaili, Bangladesh Ambassador Golam Moshi and other senior officials attended the meeting, which discussed a wide range of cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries, according to a statement issued by Bangladeshi officials.


The statement said 31 Saudi defense cadets are currently in training in Bangladesh.



Turkey, the only Muslim country in NATO, was the guest of honor at AFED 2018.
