80% of SR800m north Jeddah Corniche project completed

At least 80 percent of the SR800 million massive north Jeddah Corniche development project has been completed, city mayor Hani Abu Ras told Saudi Press Agency.

The first three phases of the six-phase project have already been completed while the fourth and fifth phases are under various stages of construction.

The sixth phase, which will be carried out in the future, extends from Jubeir Bin Al-Harith Street to Al-Rahma Mosque in the north.

Abu Ras said that the total development area covers 700,000 square meters, of which the green area is spread on 275,000 square meters.

There are 12 fountains, water sports parks, parking for 1,600 vehicles with control, monitoring and warning systems and 96 surveillance cameras.

There are 100 rest rooms, 17 recreational open spaces spread on an area of 247,000 square meters with an accommodation capacity of 54,000 people.

There are canopies, games for children, and prayer areas.

Some 12 art pieces by Saudi artists have been installed at various places.

A 125-meter-long and 50-meter-wide fishing platform has been built along the seafront. It has 15 canopies and six shaded areas. The fishing platform can accommodate 814 people.
