658 Riyadh sites set aside for Eid prayers

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced that Eid Al-Fitr prayers will be offered at 5:35 a.m on the day of the Eid Al-Fitr at 625 designated mosques in Riyadh.

Arrangements have also been made to conduct prayers in 33 open spaces, including Suleimania, Deira and Manfouha with special places for women.
The Department of Mosques at the ministry has instructed the prayer leaders and those responsible for maintenance of the Eid mosques to ensure that all preparations including adequate supplies of power and water are made.
Contracting companies, which maintain mosques in the city, have been asked to clean the entire worshipping area of the Eid mosques and lay carpets for the worshippers.

Emergency plans have been put in place for the use of the nearest big mosque in case of rain on the open grounds.
Eid Al-Fitr is celebrated at the end of the month of Ramadan in which Muslims keep fast from dawn till dusk.
“Before the Eid prayer begins, Muslims must pay Zakat Al-Fitr, which equates to about 2 kg of a basic foodstuff or its cash equivalent,” said one prayer leader.
He added that it was a good opportunity for Muslims to exchange visits with family and friends and seek to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood in the community.

The Jeddah municipality has made arrangements for Eid prayers in 279 locations across the city and suburbs.
“We have geared up 221 mosques and 58 temporary prayer yards in the city for Eid prayers,” said an official from the Jeddah municipality.
He said that more than 1,000 cleaning personnel are being assigned at these sites.
