5 ministries join hands to Saudize telecom sector

Five ministries have joined hands to implement the second phase of 100% nationalizing telecom sector jobs.

The ministries of interior, labor and social development, municipal and rural affairs, commerce and investment and telecommunication and information technology have all taken measures to support the plan to Saudize the telecommunication sector.

The Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Technology will begin the second phase of the telecom sector Saudization plan on Sept. 2.

All five ministries have organized inspection campaigns to ensure that all establishments replace their expat workers with Saudis.

So far 23,000 establishments have been Saudized since Ramadan when the first phase of the Saudization plan was launched, said a source.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Development in cooperation with the Human Resources Development Fund, the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, the General Organization for Social Insurance and the Saudi Credit and Savings Bank has trained 40,000 Saudis in preparation for the first phase of the plan to 50% Saudize the telecom sector.

A total of 16,502 Saudi men and women completed online training programs the ministry made available for those living in areas where there aren’t any training centers.
Some 930 of the graduates were employed and 750 of them started their own businesses, said the source.

Meanwhile, Minister of Labor and Social Development Mufrej Al-Haqbani visited around 40 Saudi men who are working in the telecom complex located in Al-Aziziyah neighborhood in south Riyadh.
He said the ministry will spare no effort to provide every necessary means to support Saudi youth top take up telecom sector jobs and business.
