KACST and Massachusetts Organize Ibn Khaldun Fellowship Program in Three Cities in the Kingdom

In cooperation with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) is organizing a forum to introduce the Ibn Khaldun fellowship program for Saudi women researchers with PhD degrees. The forum will be held in King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Jeddah University, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, and KACST in Riyadh.

The program aims to support Saudi women scholars and give them the opportunity to conduct scientific research under the supervision of MIT faculty members. It also seeks to promote the scientific research environment in Saudi universities and establish a base of Saudi women researchers by enriching their research skills so they can lead scientific fields in the future.

The forum will showcase and evaluate the program’s previous experiences and the fellowship journey, which begins by choosing candidates all the way to the research phase. Since its inception, the program has supported 32 Saudi women with PhDs who have published around 50 research papers in scientific conferences and publications and filed several patents.

The program embodies the agreement signed by KACST and MIT and witnessed by the Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz during his visit to the United States early last year.
