Saudi Golf Federation and Royal Greens Golf and Country Club Sign Mou to Develop the Game

Representatives of the Saudi Arabian Golf Federation (SGF) and Royal Greens Golf and Country Club at King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) designed to support and safeguard the game’s development in the Kingdom.

SGF, the national governing body for golf, sealed the agreement with Royal Greens, Saudi Arabia’s first championship standard golf course, shortly after the Grand Opening of the Club. Earlier on the same day, the SGF announced a partnership with the European Tour, which will bring tournament golf to Saudi Arabia for the first time in 2019.

The MoU will provide a framework for SGF, Royal Greens Golf and Emaar the Economic City, the Master Developer of KAEC, to work together on making the game of golf more accessible to more people as well as supporting the National Team and offering insights into the development and delivery on new facilities.

H.E. Mr. Yasir Othman Al-Rumayyan, President of the Saudi Arabian Golf Federation, said: “The SGF has made sound progress in identifying its key pillars for the game’s development in the Kingdom. We welcome the support of Royal Greens and KAEC and will benefit from their commitment to helping the SGF to realize its vision.”

Mr Fahd Al-Rasheed, Group CEO and Managing Director of KAEC, said: “This partnership is testament to the vision of the SGF to build a robust and comprehensive roadmap for the game’s evolution in Saudi Arabia. We look forward to supporting the Federation in all of its endeavors. Our new partnership will welcome players from the National team, providing access to our state-of-the-art performance academy and assist the SGF in developing growth strategies for both participation and the development of new courses.”
