Nahdi Medical Company Participates in Ministry of Health National Immunization Campaign Against Influenza

As part of the government's drive to activate the role of the private sector in all sectors of the Kingdom, Nahdi Medical Company is participating in the Ministry of Health's national immunization campaign against influenza by implementing a vaccination service at its pharmacies throughout the Kingdom.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between Nahdi Medical Company and the Ministry of Health last month to implement the campaign, which was launched this week at the flagship Nahdi Pharmacy in Prince Mohammed Bin Abdul Aziz Street (Tahlia Street) Jeddah in the presence of Eng. Yasser Joharji, CEO of Nahdi Medical Company.

The Ministry of Health has implemented the National Immunization Program as a measure against influenza over the past several years and has now announced its intention to widen the scope of beneficiaries through the collaboration with Nahdi Medical Company.

“We have trained our pharmacists to provide the vaccinations at Nahdi pharmacies,” said Joharji. “We are providing this service for citizens and residents of the kingdom under the supervision of the Ministry of Health, which has selected Nahdi Medical Company for its wide network of pharmacies spread across the kingdom. Citizens and residents can also receive their vaccination at health centers in line with the Ministry of Heath’s instructions.”

Nahdi Medical Company supports its immunization services with awareness and educational programs about vaccinations and how to obtain them, as well as about their benefits, as part in a campaign that falls in line with Nahdi’s services to promote virus prevention by helping to improve immunization rates throughout the Kingdom, under the supervision of the Ministry of Health.

Nahdi Medical Company’s participation in this campaign is part of its overall contribution to improving public healthcare services by providing protection for people at risk of influenza and other viruses who need support and assistance.

“This campaign will support the rate of vaccination around the kingdom and activate the role of the pharmacists as specialists in vaccine awareness and procedures,” added Johari. “By removing to cost of the vaccination from the Ministry of Health’s responsibility, Nahdi is actively supporting the ministry’s efforts to emphasize the benefits of disease prevention, especially by vaccinations, which are more effective and cost-effective in preventing flu side effects.

“The impact of flu spreads beyond public health to children’s educational performance and might lead to inferior national economic growth. The good thing is that the flu vaccination provides protection from this virus and in case of infection the symptoms will be less severe than those who were not vaccinated.”

Joharji went on to point out that Vision 2030 includes a commitment to implement "an innovative approach to health of higher quality and greater effectiveness" with the aim of upgrading health services and quality, leading to a more efficient and innovative health sector with greater competitiveness and transparency among service providers.

Vision 2030 also seeks to enable better quality and productivity at all levels of service delivery and offers more diverse options for citizens through preventive care, encouraging them to benefit from first aid as a first step to treatment, as well as helping to fight contagious diseases by aligning healthcare service providers and social care to achieve a full integrated system that facilitates the beneficiaries’ needs.

Concluding, Johari stated "Vision 2030 emphasizes the importance of partnership between the private and public sectors, and the importance of activating the role of the private sector in industries such as the health sector. For our part, at Nahdi Medical Company we are proud to contribute to achieving the goals of Vision 2030.”

The flu vaccinations are available throughout the Kingdom in 49 Nahdi pharmacies in 22 cities.
