King Salman honors winners of King Khalid Prize

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman graced the ceremony to honor winners of the 6th edition of King Khalid Prize at Faisaliyah Hotel in Riyadh on Tuesday evening.

The King distributed the prizes to the winners in the three branches — “Excellence among non-profit organizations”, “Partners for development”, and “Responsible competitiveness.”

The prizes were instituted by the King Khalid Foundation.

Prince Turki Bin Muhammad Bin Fahd, chairman of the board of the Charity Society for the Welfare of Orphans (Binaa), received the first prize in the category of “Excellence among non-profit organizations.”

The society was honored in recognition of its outstanding contributions in building the personality of orphans in the religious, social and educational spheres.

The King handed the second prize to Abdul Razaq Makhdoum, executive director of the Madinah-based Family Development Society (Osrati), for the excellent performance of the society in the provision of family development programs and services.

The Charity Society for the Care of Orphans (Insan) was given away with the third prize in this category. The winners were awarded with a prize money of SR500,000, SR300,000 and SR200,000 respectively.

King Salman presented the first prize in “Partners for development” category to Dr. Sami Al-Salami for the initiative of “Doctors’ Communications,” which is an online connectivity among all consultant and specialist doctors across the Kingdom so as to take advantage of their expertise each other and exchange of information.

The second prize in this category was bagged by a young Saudi woman Jawaher Al-Hayder for her initiative titled “My life is sugar” that consist of an awareness program for the diabetic patients through the social media.

The King handed the third prize in this category to Faisal Yousef for the initiative for the scholarship students. An amount of SR250,000 goes for the first prize, and SR150,000 and SR100,000 for the second and third places respectively in this category.

In the category of “Responsible competitiveness,” the first prize was presented to Saudi Investment Bank while the second prize shared bySaudi Company for Iron and Steel (Hadeed) and the Saudi CISCO company. The third prize presented to Shahd Al-Murooj Special Direction Company.

The ceremony was also attended by Riyadh Emir Prince Faisal Bin Bandar, Emir of Asir Prince Faisal Bin Khalid, who is also chairman of the board of King Khalid Foundation, and Prince Rakan Bin Salman.
